Summary

In this workshop, we focus on the molecular, neuronal, and network-level interactions underlying internal brain states and the tools neuroscientists use to study them. Physiological brain states reveal critical insights as to how our brain constantly updates new information against prior knowledge to generate coherent behavior. Altered states, on the other hand, give us a sneak-peak into what happens when such updating mechanisms derail. Put together, both physiological and altered states shed important light on our cognition and perception of the world and the underlying mechanisms we share across species.

Through this pre-conference workshop for INSIGHT 2023 (https://insight-conference.eu/), we aim to bring together renowned scientists and students to share their scientific interests. Through talks, in-depth Q&As, lab visits, and experiential parts of the workshop, we hope it serves as an excellent warm-up for the upcoming conference.

Co-organized by the Neuroscience section of the MIND Foundation & Charité Neuroscience Research Centre.

Venue: Charité Crossover-Building (CCO) Auditorium, Virchowweg 6, 10117 Berlin (marked with green pin on map here) – We suggest that you use the Entrance labelled (C) on the same map. Our venue is about 5 minutes’ walk from the entrance, located on the left side.
