Shahryar Khorasani, born in 1993, is a Persian artist and neuroscientist currently based in Berlin. Working primarily with graphite, charcoal, ink, and Photoshop, he creates surrealistic artworks that explore the transformation of figures and portraits into organic shapes and dynamic patterns.
Shahryar’s background in molecular biology and neuroscience has greatly influenced his artistic perspective. Through his studies of neuronal electrophysiology, spending months behind microscopes, as well as analyzing brain MRI scans, he has developed a fascination with the unique textures and aesthetics of the cellular world that on a higher level, give rise to intricate gyral forms and anatomical nuances seen through neuroimaging. The memories from his time in the lab and his passion for neuroscience find materialization in his artworks.
With a keen emphasis on intricate details, Shahryar invites viewers to immerse themselves in the intricate details and make their own interpretations.
