PD Dr. Kurt Stocker is a research associate in psychopharmacology (University Hospital Basel) and a project leader for consciousness studies (ETH Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich). He investigates how the mind works. Over the last years, his research focus has shifted from how the mind works in ordinary states of consciousness to how it works in nonordinary states of consciousness – with a current primary focus on the psychedelic experience. As part of the research team in Basel, he is currently involved in qualitative and quantitative psychedelic-psychometric research with LSD, psilocybin, DMT, and mescaline with healthy individuals as well as with patients. One of the goals of this work is a comprehensive measurement of the psychology of the psychedelic experience for both research and therapy.
