Kim PC Kuypers is an Associate Professor at Maastricht University’s Faculty of Psychology and Neuroscience. Her research focuses on understanding the neurobiology that underlies flexible cognition, empathy, and well-being. To achieve this, she studies the effects of psychedelics on behaviors and biology, conducts survey research to understand the motivations behind psychedelic use and patterns of use, and develops new methods to explore cognitive flexibility and empathy. In the future, her research will focus on creating online tools to evaluate these behaviors and determine biological markers of positive responses to psychedelics. Kuypers intends to emphasize ‘small data’ and precision medicine in her research.
