Arne Harms, Dr. Phil.

Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology, Halle, Germany

Dr. Arne Harms is a senior researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology, Halle, Germany. He is an anthropologist, working at the intersection of environmental anthropology, STS and anthropology of ethics. At present, he has two major research projects. One concerns future-proofing of shores in India against the background of environmental degradation and sea level rise. The other looks at ethical practices among climate activists in Europe, theorising how ‘techniques of the self’ are reshuffled as political forms against the background of planetary crises.
