A Clinical Case of Psychedelic Integration in the Community
Psychedelic Harm Reduction and Integration is a form of therapy developed for working with individuals using, or contemplating the use, of psychedelics and desirous of professional assistance on that path. This presentation will offer a model for this therapy, including both theoretical and practical aspects. A case presentation will be offered to demonstrate the method. A cis-gendered man with depression, suicidality and possible Bipolar II disorder has undergone treatment with ketamine and attended several ayahuasca ceremonies. While the patient benefited considerably from his psychedelic work, unforeseen consequences emerged. In his Psychedelic Integration therapy, we explored the ways his improved well being created complex and challenging dynamics among his friends, family and his own altered identity.
