Túlio Castro is a medical student at Universidade Federal dos Vales do Jequitinhonha in Diamantina, Brazil, with a passion for neuroscience and psychiatry. He is driven by a profound interest in the potential therapeutic applications of psychedelics, particularly within the context of Brazilian communities that utilize Ayahuasca in cultural or ritualistic settings to aid individuals suffering from addiction. During his undergraduate studies, Túlio’s curiosity about the therapeutic effects of psychedelics was sparked by listening to individuals who had experienced rituals involving the Amazon brew.
Since 2018, he has actively participated in four distinct research projects, both in Brazil and Belgium, which focused on animal behavior involving rats, mice, and non-human primates. These experiences have ignited his passion for research and exposed him to the immense potential of neuroscience in pioneering novel treatments for mental and brain disorders.
