Manvir Singh is a postdoctoral research fellow at the Institute for Advanced Study in Toulouse. He studies the foundations of complex cultural practices that reliably develop across human societies, including shamanism, music, story, and law. Since 2014, he has conducted anthropological fieldwork among the Mentawai (Indonesia) with a focus on shamanism and witchcraft. In 2020, he graduated with a PhD from Harvard’s Department of Human Evolutionary Biology.
